2023 Season
3175 considers the 2023 season, Charged Up!, to be the best season we've had. Our 2023 robot's name was Megalodon. During our first district event, the Escanaba District Event, we ranked 2nd overall after qualification matches and we were picked by the 1st seated team, 857, Superior Roboworks, and together picked team 8382, The Pebbles to be on our alliance. After some rocky playoffs matches, our alliance ended up winning the event. We also won the District Impact Award for the event.
Our second event was the District Macomb Community College Event. We ranked 1st overall after qualification matches. We chose team 5460, Strike Zone and team 2604, Metal and Soul to be on our alliance, later adding team 6085, Green Devil Bots to help out. We ended up winning that event as well. Due to our Impact Award and two District wins, we made it to the Michigan State Championship. At the state championship, we ranked 2nd on the DTE Energy Field, and picked teams 494, Martians and 8426, Automated Amphibians. We played four playoff matches before being eliminated. At The World Championship, we ranked 3rd on the Johnson Division, picking teams 4499, The Highlanders; 4635, Botbusters; and 217, The ThunderChickens. We played 3 matches before concluding our official season with a loss. We went on to compete at 5 offseasons, Big Bang!, the Indiana Robotics Invitational, Rainbow Rumble, Goonettes Invitational, and Kettering Kickoff Day 1. We won Goonettes Invitational with the help of 33, The Killer Bees; 7174, Charger Robotics; and 3096, The Village Bulldogs. We also won Kettering Kickoff Day 1, with the help of 33, The Killer Bees (again), and 7491, Cyber Soldiers, ending the 2023 season with a win. Alongside our FIRST events, we also did a lot of outreach. We helped out our community by making hygiene kits for those in need on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, as well as making over 1,500 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for those requiring assistance, in the month of January. In February, we both invited teams to our build space to give them assistance and hosted a blood drive where we collected 22 units of blood. In March, during our competitions, we maintained our Menstrual Equity, where we stocked bathrooms at events with period products for anyone in need of them. During the offseason, we did a lot more for our outreach program, such at hosting a robot-themed birthday party to help kindle interest in STEM from the younger generation. We also hosted an FLL expo called "Knighthawkathon." Later on, we participated in Relay for Life several other teams, such as 573, Mech Warriors, and 818, The Steel Armadillos. We then hosted another blood where we collected 33 units of blood. To conclude our outreach in the year of 2023, we hosted an FTC qualifier and had an absolute blast. |
